Traditionally beef animals have been fed low protein diets. A typical finishing diet would contain 12 -13% crude protein with growing rations at 14 -15% crude protein. With wheat replacing barley, and maize silage or whole crop now being grown these low protein rations do not utilise the starch from these feeds effectively. Simply put, the lack of protein is restricting the animal’s weight gain and feed conversion.
QLF’s beef protein products provide an ideal blend of protein and sugars for home mixed rations.
QLF’s ‘Timed-Release’ protein liquids contain Effective Rumen Degradable Protein (ERDP) and sugar and hence can improve the efficiency of use of home-grown, starch feeds. This was demonstrated in an independent beef trail in Ireland where Soya and feed grade urea were replaced with our previous product, QLF Super 40. Not only Daily Live Weight Gain increase but also finishing weight, Killing Out percentage and Grade.
